The IdeaLab – A Kickstarter Project from the Calgary Public Library Foundation

October 19, 2015

The Calgary Public Library Foundation has just launched an innovative project to support public libraries. The IdeaLab is a place for people of all ages to access cutting-edge technology and nurture a passion for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Design, and Math) education and careers.

The IdeaLab project was created for the “builders and betterers;” individuals who are dedicated to making the world a better place through education and experimentation, and want these tools to be available to all. A hands-on technology centre like this in a Library would be one of the first of its kind.

If this project is funded through Kickstarter, the IdeaLab will be built within Calgary’s New Central Library (set to open in 2018) and a how-to guide for developing and implementing an IdeaLab will be created and shared with libraries across the globe.

Backing the project is easy. Visit http://www.libraryidealab.ca/ today—it only takes $1 to build the next great idea!
