Call for Volunteers: Librarians Without Borders Guatemala 2020 Service Trip
February 5, 2020
Librarians Without Borders (LWB) is inviting members of the librarianship community to volunteer on their 2020 service trip to the Miguel Angel Asturias Academy in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala from April 23 to May 3, 2020.
Since 2010, we’ve helped the school realize and grow their dream of an open stacks, circulating school library. What started as cinder blocks in 2010 is now the vibrant center of the school!
This year’s work at the Academy will include:
- collection management activities (purchasing, cataloging, processing, and adding new items),
- library programming for students through the always popular Library Days,
- and training for parents and teachers.
Trip participants will have the opportunity to take part in edutourism activities organized by LWB with Asturias to gain a better understanding of libraries, education, and culture in Guatemala.
Deadline for Applications: February 16, 2020 February 23, 2020 (deadline extended)
Resources from Guatemala Information Meeting held on February 2:
