Nova Scotia Library Association (NSLA) Conference 2023 – Call for Proposals

March 17, 2023

True Grit: Passion and perseverance for change.

October 20-22, 2023
Inn on Prince, 437 Prince Street, Truro NS

As the library’s role in the community grows broader, we must summon passion and perseverance in order to continue to adapt to our communities’ ever-changing needs.

Grit means having courage, resolve, and strength of character. These traits are absolutely necessary for us to continue the work of change towards creating a better, more equitable and compassionate world. This is a time for us to both elevate and amplify stories and perspectives from equity-deserving communities, and to spark conversations on what libraries can and are doing to take action on social justice issues like racial justice, disability rights, 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, equality, and more.

This year, the Program Committee is striving to provide a range of sessions that will inspire, spark conversations, and help you nurture empowered and resilient teams. We encourage proposals from public, academic, school, and special libraries of all sizes, and other organizations that are providing library services in our communities.

This year we are accepting proposals for 1-hour sessions (including time for questions) and half day preconference sessions or workshops. If more time is required, please include the information in your proposal.

Please submit your proposals via email to conference@nsla.ns.ca by May 12, 2023, and include the following information:

  • Session title;
  • Abstract (approximately 250-300 words);
  • Presenters’ names, professional affiliation, and email address (indicate primary contact if more than one presenter);
  • Technical requirements

We look forward to hearing from you!
