A farewell note from the CLA Executive Council
June 24, 2016
The final edition of CLA Digest includes a message from the outgoing Canadian Library Association (CLA) Executive Council:
Dear colleagues,
This is the last issue of the CLA Digest and so my last chance to extend, on behalf of CLA Executive Council, our sincere appreciation to the CLA membership for your support of our efforts over the past few years, of the Future Federation Working Group, and now of the actual Federation.
For those of you who were able to attend the Ottawa Forum, thank you so much for joining us. It was a real pleasure and honour to be able to explore critical information and social policy issues and opportunities with you, as well as to both celebrate CLA’s history and to be present for the Federation at their first public meeting.
Over the next few weeks, we will be winding down CLA. During the past few months, many associations have stepped up to take on various activities and services, such as awards, the Library Shipping Tool, and Leading Learning, just to name a few. Thank you to these associations for taking on these important activities. Once we have completed the final work of CLA and we have closed the door, the former Executive Council will ask the Federation to send out a notification so you all know. The report from the Forum is being drafted by a number of EC members and is scheduled to be sent to the Federation toward the end of July.
On behalf of CLA Executive Council, and I trust our membership, I would like to once again express my deepest appreciation to the staff at CLA. You truly are an extraordinary group of people and we thank you so very much for walking this path alongside us to the close. To our colleagues across Canada, we look forward to seeing you at CFLA-FCAB policy forums across the country in the future and to contributing our efforts through the other associations in which we are each members.
With the deepest of gratitude to the remarkable CLA community and to those who are creating a new national future for us all,
Sandra Singh, President
