Description:

In the ongoing process of building useful, balanced library collections, we strive to meet the cultural, intellectual and recreational needs of the community. A growing part of that process involves assessing trends in collections development and publishing around sensitivity, neutrality and intellectual freedom.

Together, fresh and experienced workshop participants will review sample selection guidelines and collection development policies, then discuss how to handle case study issues. Take this opportunity to strategize the way forward while determining whether these crucial administrative documents support the decisions that library workers face every day.

Intended Audience:

Individuals working in a public library; library professionals; collection development librarians; managers in libraries. Everyone is welcome!

This event is a part of the Topics in Collection Development series offered by The Education Institute.
