This case study is the second in an interactive virtual workshop series that offers participants the opportunity to support the wider library community. Navigate spacial and budgetary limitations, embrace growing community membership, and assist with design solutions! The main branch of the Thunder Bay Public Library is in the downtown core but is outdated and worn out. It needs to put its best foot forward to better serve its wide-ranging spectrum of library patrons. With your help, this library’s team aims to:
- refresh and modernize the design of a central branch;
- re-envision the lighting from antiquated fluorescents to a more welcoming scheme;
- update the main floor layout to accommodate a range of patron needs while still preserving the Indigenous Knowledge Centre and its community-designed furniture and shelving.
Are you up to the challenge?
Date & Time: Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm ET
Format: Online workshop via Zoom
Intended Audience:
Architects, planners, designers, coordinators and library/information professionals from across all sectors are welcome to attend!
Whether you’re in need of renovation insights or you want to share your experience and expertise with others who may be struggling with community engagement and planning, this virtual workshop series offers a unique opportunity to support the library community, and gain new perspectives on library space design challenges.
