Theme: Your library is bigger on the inside
This year, First Nation Public Library Week is all about celebrating library visitors and the incredible services at the library. Think about that moment when someone steps into the library for the very first time—the spark in their eyes, the sense of wonder as they realize that all this knowledge, all these resources, are free and right at their fingertips.
That feeling is the heart of this year’s theme.
We’re encouraging libraries to use this week as an opportunity to showcase the amazing programs, services, and supports offered every day. The goal is simple: bring people through the doors and let them discover the magic for themselves.
Because once they’re inside, they’ll quickly see that their library is so much more than it appears…their library is bigger on the inside.
Since 2000, First Nation public libraries have used one week of the year to raise awareness of their resources, services, programs and activities. First Nation Public Library Week is celebrated the first week of October to coincide with Canadian Library Month.
First Nation Public Library Week is not only an opportunity to promote public library services but also to celebrate cultural uniqueness through creative library programming.
