The Greater Edmonton Library Association (GELA) has the great pleasure of inviting you to attend a panel discussion on Library and Information Professionals Abroad. Panelists will be answering questions and sharing their experiences on travelling to international institutions and/or moving to Canada to work from another country.
The panel discussion with be moderated by Lisa Shamchuk, GELA President. Our five panelists include:
- Margaret Law (University of Alberta)
- Pei Wen Lu (Edmonton Public Library)
- Lorisia MacLeod (University of Alberta & SLIS Student)
- Obianuju Mollel (Alberta Health Services)
- Tara Stieglitz (MacEwan University)

Audience: All are welcome and no GELA membership is required to attend. We always welcome new members though and the event will be a great opportunity to renew your membership. You can also renew by contacting us at treasurer@gela.ca.
We will be raffling off a gift basket at the event that you can win! Tickets will be sold at the event ($5 per raffle ticket). All proceeds for the raffle will be used towards the GELA Professional Development Grant.
The panel discussion will be followed by an optional Dine-a-Round in the Whyte Avenue area starting at 12:45pm. You can sign up in advance when you RSVP but Dine-a-Round sheets will also be posted at the event. If you’re unable to join us for the panel discussion you’re still welcome to attend the Dine-a-Round
