Theme: Possible & Impossible Children: Intersections of Children’s Literature & Childhood Studies

The 23rd Biennial Congress of the International Research Society for Children’s Literature (IRSCL) will be hosted by the Children’s Studies Program, York University, Toronto. This is only the third time that this event has been held in North America.

Four hundred scholars from forty countries will gather from Saturday, July 29 to Wednesday, August 2, 2017 to present their research and hear keynote speakers from Canada, Quebec, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Mexico, and the United States.

Special international panels of indigenous creators, youth filmmakers, youth performers, and creators speaking about intersections of diversity in children’s and young adult literature will be featured, as will IRSCL-member panels on research centres, graduate study, and publishing about children’s and young adult literature.
