Theme: Currents of Change: Navigating the Shifts in Information Science

We are excited to announce that the Information Without Borders (IWB) Conference 2026, taking place on March 2nd 2026 at Dalhousie University, is now accepting speaker proposals!

The Information Without Borders (IWB) Conference is a student-run initiative led by individuals in the Master of Information program. Started in 2007, this event provides a forum for interdisciplinary discussion on a central topic affecting all professions represented in Information Science.

Our theme for the Information Without Borders (IWB) Conference 2026 is “Currents of Change: Navigating the Shifts in Information Science”. Information science has never stood still. It moves like tides, reshaping the shores of knowledge with every wave of innovation. From the early currents of cataloguing and classification to today’s surging flows of data analytics, AI, and digital ecosystems, the field has evolved in rhythm with technological and societal change. This conference explores those shifts, with attendees sharing how ideas ripple outward, how practices ebb and flow, and how we can navigate the next wave of transformation. Attendees will have the opportunity to unpack what that can look like across the information management sector, and connect with other professionals, students, and researchers about these issues.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send them to iwb@dal.ca.
