The New Librarians Symposium (NLS) is an event for anyone who identifies as an early career information professional. Although “librarian” is in the title of the event, this is used as a catch-all phrase for librarians, archivists, record and knowledge managers, and everyone in between!

The purpose of NLS is for new professionals (defined here as recent graduates of an LIS program or anyone who self-identifies as being early in their LIS career) to connect with each other, develop networks, explore potential collaborations, and learn. This event will not be a didactic or “how to” event, and will not be focused around securing a job.

Precisely because the concerns and issues shared by recent graduates and early career professionals tend to be distinct, this event is not open to currently enrolled LIS students.

Programming for the day will feature discussions led by working professionals from across the information science field as well as structured opportunities to interact with each other.
