Librarianship.ca invites you celebrate Canadian Library Month with a visit to the Ottawa Public Library’s Accessible Services. A Visit Will Get You Thinking
This tour will involve a “behind the scenes” look at Ottawa Public Library’s Accessible Services, including Homebound, DAISY audio book, and accessibility services.
The Homebound department provides centralised selection and delivery of library materials to approximately 600 residents of Ottawa who are confined to their home or in assisted living facilities.
Accessibility Services develops projects and initiatives to promote universal design and reduce barriers to service at the public library.
The tour will showcase what this group does, highlight recent initiatives such as pictogram signage, provide a simulated “pop-up library” as done in assisted living, and tour the DAISY audio book collection available to customers with a print disability.
