Call for Proposals: 84th ABQLA Annual Conference

ABQLA is pleased to invite members of the library and information professional community to submit conference proposals for their 84th annual conference to be held in Montreal on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016. The theme for this year’s conference is Libraries Moving Forward: Innovations that Work. The conference will emphasize practical strategies and methods that can help librarians and information specialists ensure their services remain responsive to their communities’ needs in a rapidly changing world.

The ABQLA Conference Committee welcomes presentations that exhibit creative, out-of-the box ideas and practical approaches on topics relevant to library and information professionals. We are particularly interested in innovative collaborations, designs, processes, and projects related to services, programs, instructional sessions, or library space that have benefited the library community and beyond. Other topics that address the conference theme in some aspect are also welcome.

General Information

  • Session format is a 30 minute presentation (20 minute presentation with 10 minutes for questions).

Guidelines & Instructions

  • Submissions must include a completed “Proposal Submission Form” (see below) and an attached Proposal (maximum 500 words) emailed to abqla@abqla.qc.ca.
  • Both submissions and presentations may be in either English or French.
  • Proposals must clearly indicate the nature of the subject matter and its relevance to the conference theme, as well as two learning outcomes for participants.
  • The one-day registration fee will be waived for the primary speaker.
  • All proposals will be peer reviewed by the ABQLA Conference Program Committee.
  • The submission deadline is Friday, January 29, 2016.

Notification

  • All submitters will be notified by February 12, 2016.
  • All presenters will be asked to submit a brief biography (max 100 words), a photograph, and an abbreviated abstract to be published in the program and posted on the ABQLA website.
  • All presenters will be asked to make their presentation available on the conference website.
