J. McRee (Mac) Elrod, 1932-2016

This was posted this morning on the RDA-L listserv as well as other cataloguing related lists:

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is my sad duty to inform you that Mac Elrod’s journey ended peacefully this morning at 5:45 a.m. local time, with his family and loved ones at his side.

I will let you know of any arrangements as I learn of them.

Mac himself provided a better epitaph than anything I could dream up. When he was diagnosed as terminal three months ago, he said to  me, “I’ve had a wonderful life and I’m ready to go.” Would that  that could be said of all of us when our time is nigh.
