Topic: Empowering Minds – Fostering the Six C’s of Learning Global Competencies – Citizenship, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, Connection to Self, Creativity

The Manitoba School Library Association invites you to our Manitoba Teachers’ Society (MTS) PD Day conference, Empowering Minds: Fostering the Global Competencies of Learning, on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Linden Meadows School.

This year’s event centers on the six global competencies outlined by Manitoba Education: creativity, citizenship, connection to self, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.

The conference begins with keynote speaker Colleen Nelson, an award-winning author and teacher, who will share insights on literacy, collaboration, and authentic connections.

The day will conclude with a panel of librarians and educators exploring how podcasting can support communication, collaboration, and innovation in teaching.

Attendees can also choose from a variety of breakout workshops on topics such as media literacy, read-alouds, Indigenous-led environmental inquiry, Minecraft Education, ethical AI use, Living Library programs, and more. Each workshop ties back to the global competencies, offering practical strategies for classrooms and libraries.

Along with learning, the conference emphasizes connection, reflection, and collaboration with colleagues across Manitoba.

Registration is $65, and participants are asked to make their own lunch arrangements.
