The 2019 True North Science Boot Camp (TNSBC) for Librarians will be held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada from May 29th through May 31st, 2019. The event is organised by the University of Ottawa and this year’s theme is makerspaces and community engagement in science and engineering.

Highlights include:

  • An extensive program including librarian presentations as well as sessions on science education and communication, intellectual property and makerspaces. Experiential learning in the construction, reconfiguration and combination of DNA and proteins will also be covered in a rich and diversified program.
  • An exciting social program including the opening banquet, dine-arounds, and an outdoor BBQ
  • Lunches and refreshments;
  • Very low registration fees*: $200.00 + 13% HST = $226.00 CDN

Registration is now live and is capped at 40 participants. Register early to save your spot! Registration closes Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

*Please note: Registration fees do not include accommodations. We have reserved a block of rooms on campus at a reduced rate. More information on this and other accommodation options.

Chemistry Librarian Workshop announcement:
The Chemistry Librarian Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday May 28, 2019 (the day before TNSBC!) at Carleton University in Ottawa. The workshop’s theme is Pedagogy in Chemistry: how do we, as librarians, teach information literacy, use of chemistry resources, deal with open access/data and all that other neat stuff! Le « True North Science Boot Camp » (TNSBC) pour les bibliothécaires aura lieu à Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, du 29 au 31 mai 2019. L’événement est organisé par l’Université d’Ottawa et a pour thèmes le mouvement makerspace et l’engagement communautaire en sciences et en génie.

Points saillants:

  • Une vaste programmation incluant des présentations de bibliothécaires ainsi que des sessions sur l’enseignement et la communication scientifiques, la propriété intellectuelle et les espaces makerspace. L’apprentissage expérientiel dans la construction, la reconfiguration et la combinaison de l’ADN et des protéines seront également des sujets abordés dans le cadre d’un programme riche et diversifié.
  • Un programme social excitant comprenant le banquet d’ouverture, un souper à la ronde et un BBQ en plein air.
  • Repas du midi et rafraîchissements ;
  • Frais d’inscription minimes* : 200,00 $ + 13 % TVH = 226,00 $ CDN
