Thinking about ACA 2016 in Montreal?
December 18, 2015
The Association of Canadian Archivists (ACA) Board, Host Team, and Program Team are extremely pleased to share the preliminary Conference at a Glance for the ACA 2016 Conference being held June 1-4, 2016 at the Montreal Marriott Chateau Champlain. To view the document as well as other conference information, use http://archivists.ca/content/annual-conference
This year’s conference program features speakers from across Canada, and around the world, who will be sharing their innovative approaches to archival thought and work. In addition to traditional papers, panel discussions, and roundtables, we will be once again holding a lightning session for poster presenters and, for the first time, will be offering a stream of working sessions on Saturday. These special sessions will feature short presentations along with interactive discussions on the topics of archival technologies, AtoM, and crowd sourcing.
In addition to being in one of Canada’s most vibrant cities, conference delegates will have a selection of social activities that include behind-the-scenes tours of the Canadian Centre for Architecture and the historic Church of the Gesù; a virtual exploration of historic and international libraries produced by Robert Lepage, Ex Machina, and the Grande Bibliothèque and based on text by Alberto Manguel; innovative walking tours featuring night-time projections of Montreal’s history; and brewery visits with beer tasting.
The conference hotel is centrally located in Montreal including a connection to the Metro, and provides delegates a great home base for exploring the city’s many historic, cultural, and dining hot spots.
You can book rooms at the Marriott Chateau Champlain now. For the best rate be sure to take advantage of the ACA booking code when you make your reservation. See http://archivists.ca/content/hotel-travel-tourist-information for full details.
