Call for Participation: Demographic survey of Alberta’s archives community
September 10, 2025
The Archives Society of Alberta (ASA) is compiling demographic data from archivists and those who work in archives, in order to get a clear understanding of the state of the profession in our province.
We are seeking the data specifically from Alberta residents who are:
- Working with archival materials, either as archivists, archival technicians or other support staff whether or not they have archival training;
- Managers of archival institutions;
- Professional archivists who are not currently working in the profession.
This survey asks respondents to reflect upon their career, career satisfaction, pay and benefits, and to provide general demographic information. The results of the survey will give an overview of compensation and benefits for archival work, which may be useful for posting jobs and negotiating salaries. The data will give insight into strengths and challenges in the field of archives and areas in which the ASA could work to improve satisfaction within the profession.
Responses to this survey are anonymized and no personal information will be collected or shared. The results of the survey will be communicated with our members and posted on the ASA website. If you have any questions about the demographic survey, please feel free to contact us at info@archivesalberta.org
The link to the survey is here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2YFW2JK. The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.
Feel free to share our demographic survey with individuals who meet our target audience.
Thank you,
Rene
