Call for Proposals: ALC (The Jasper Conference) 2022

Call for Proposals: ALC (The Jasper Conference) 2022

May 20, 2021

The ALC (The Jasper Conference) 2022 Planning Committee is accepting proposals for the 2022 Alberta Library Conference. ALC 2022 takes place in Jasper, AB from April 28 to May 1, 2022.

Our Conference theme for 2022 is Dare Mighty Things!

During the COVID-19 pandemic, libraries were challenged to think outside the confines of their physical spaces. We’ve been doing curbside, running virtual programs, creating take home kits, doing library instruction via video, and meeting students and customers online. Libraries strive to be visionaries in their communities, discovering new ways to reach underserved communities, piloting new programs and services, and responding to the needs of our users in new ways.

The Committee strives to provide a range of sessions that are of interest to the broader library community in Alberta. The work being done in libraries across Alberta, from small rural libraries to large academic institutions, demonstrates the complexity of library service as well as the adaptability and diversity of those who work in libraries. We encourage proposals from academic, public, school, and special libraries of all sizes, and organizations that are creatively broadening library services.

Proposals from trustees for sessions that provide education and training for Library Board members are welcome. If you are a public library employee, please share this call for submissions with your Board.

We are also interested in proposals from outside the library world on topics such as business plans, organizational change, succession planning, staff retention, generational change, marketing, fund development, understanding our communities, service models, human resources, Friends of the Library, etc.

We are accepting proposals for 60 minute, 10-minute lightning strike, and poster sessions. We are also accepting proposals for half day pre-conference sessions/workshops.

We are seeking radical and diverse presenters and will be intentionally inclusive in selecting proposals highlighting innovative work and ideas that address the core challenges facing all libraries today.

Submission deadline is September 17, 2021.

Submit your proposal here.
