Save the Date: CanUX returns to the CMC Theatre in November 2027!

As you may have already seen on our website over the past couple of months, CanUX has made the decision to postpone our 14th edition until November 2027. This means no event in 2026, as it became obvious following our 2025 edition that waiting out the current economic slowdown caused by the federal government restructuring, the impact of the ongoing US tariffs to Canadian organizations and the normalization of AI over the past couple of years, is the choice we have to make.

We are also fully aware that a difficult year like this would be ideal for getting together and recharging our batteries with our community. But as a not-for-profit conference with a diminishing budget in the face of these rapidly increasing costs, holding an event in 2026 presents a risk profile that is far more precarious that our typical CanUX conference cycles. On the other hand, there are other design or design-adjacent events that are still happening this Fall where you can even catch some of our previous keynotes and main stage speakers, so check out the section below for the events we’re highly recommending in the second half of 2026. And even if your org has no conference budget this year, there are ongoing meetup series happening almost year round in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.

But if you plan on joining us again next year, mark your calendars for our 14th edition: we will return to the Canadian Museum of History Theatre in Ottawa/Gatineau on November 3-6, 2027. Early-bird tickets will be available as usual early next year.

And even though 2026 is tougher than usual on our professional community, hang in there, our collective strength has never been concentrated in a single gathering. And if in-person events are too much for you right now, try to catch up with another lonely designer or researcher for a coffee this year.
