CanUX is back in Ottawa in 2024
In a world where the economic uncertainties of the last couple of years is finally catching up with experience design events worldwide, many UX conferences are taking a year off in 2024. Major events, like IxDA’s Interaction Week, UX New Zealand, UX Australia etc. are skipping 2024, while others have simply stopped running. We originally planned on running our 2024 edition in Montreal, but the stars didn’t quite align to move the conference this year, so we’re delighted to announce that the 13th edition of CanUX will take place as usual in Ottawa this fall.
The dates for this year’s CanUX conference will be Wed-Sat, October 30 – November 2, 2024. Similar to last year, the plenary conference days will be Friday and Saturday (Nov 1-2, 2024). Our usual two days of workshops will precede the conference on Wednesday and Thursday (Oct 30-31, 2024) and will feature hands-on activities led by renowned experience design professionals from Canada and abroad. This will allow our speakers more time to return home ahead of the work week and we’ll all be able to take advantage of the extra hour of sleep due to daylight savings after the conference on Saturday night.
We’re also thrilled to be returning to our amazing venue, the Canadian Museum of History (formerly the Canadian Museum of Civilization) Theatre, which, unlike 2023, should have all of its renovations completed by the time CanUX 2024 rolls around.
Our organizing team are working once again to bring in a special all-star lineup of UX professionals from around the world. Back this year will also be the newbie dinners on Thursday, Oct 31st, and the cinq a sept (happy hour) on Friday, Nov 1st.

Share Your Case Studies on the CanUX Stage!
Are you doing something amazing in the world of experience design or service design? Can you package it up as a case study and share some of the lessons learned? Come share it with us! This is your chance to present on the same stage as the headliners of our CanUX 2024 line-up, in front of hundreds of Canadian designers (no pressure, eh?). Whether you’re thinking of showcasing great design case studies based on ideas that have been brought to reality or projects that went completely off the rails, we’d like to hear them.

It could be your earth-shattering idea, plan or concept, how you made it happen, what worked, what didn’t, what you’ve learned or even a demo if you can show us.
Your proposal will be part of a series of short presentations (max. 30 minutes) from any and all experience levels, including first-timers (and if you’re a first-timer, don’t worry, we offer great speaker support too). Basically, if you have something to say, and can tell it passionately, we’d like to hear from you. Bonus: Accepted speakers pay no conference fees and will be paid an honorarium.
Submission deadline: June 15th, 2024 at 11:59pm Eastern Time.
Accepted entries will be notified by July 31st, 2024.
