November 14, 2021
IFLA, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, this week announced that the 2022 World Library and Information Congress will be held in-person in Dublin, Ireland from 26-29 July 2021.
Dublin was to be the 2020 host of the World Library and Information Congress which was cancelled due to COVID-19.
We’re back! WLIC to be in Dublin, Ireland in 2022
IFLA is excited to announce its plan to hold the 87th IFLA World Library and Information Congress in person, in Dublin, Ireland. Mark the dates in your diary now – 26-29 July 2022 – and look out for more updates!
After three years without the opportunity to meet in person, we are delighted to be planning, once again, for a physical conference.
It will be an opportunity to share, learn and innovate, but also to reunite with friends and colleagues after a long break.
We are privileged to be able to do so surrounded by the literary history of Dublin, and the energy and passion of the Irish library field, in the first ever WLIC to be held in Ireland. We are grateful to the Irish National Committee for their work and support and know that they are assuring delegates of Céad Míle Fáilte – a Hundred Thousand Welcomes!
Inspiring, Engaging, Enabling and Connecting, Together
This year’s extensive virtual conference highlighted the dynamism and resilience of the global library field, faced with unprecedented challenges. Through online connections, the field has grown closer together, and shown its strength.
Yet the message was clear – the field wanted the opportunity to meet in person, to discuss challenging issues face to face and to strengthen professional networks.
After many months behind screens, we are therefore looking forward to the most anticipated international library event of 2022.
Under the theme ‘inspire, engage, enable and connect’, the Congress will help us charge our professional batteries, and chart a path for the future of our field, together.
So, save the date today and start to make your plans to catch up with old colleagues and make new ones.
In conjunction with the Irish National Committee, IFLA will be confirming activities and publishing more information as the Congress plans develop. Subscribe to the IFLA Newsletter and to the IFLA-L mailing list to make sure you don’t miss anything.
