Library Association of Alberta (LAA) launches new visual identity

April 12, 2025

LAA has a new look!

In early 2025, the LAA worked with Focus Communications to design a new logo that embodies our mission and values.

The new logo was guided by the concepts of evolution, Albertan identity, and openness.

Although the logo appears to be abstract at first glance, the graphic is actually derived from the previous LAA logo. The icon has four wavy divisions representing the sky, mountains, wheat fields, and plains of an Alberta landscape. These four divisions were created by cropping into the previous LAA logo and rotating the composition 90 degrees counterclockwise.

The colour palette once again takes inspiration from the organization’s Albertan identity by using modified tints of the official provincial colours, blue, gold, and green. The bright, vibrant colours paired with the soft curves help the graphic project a sense of openness and positivity. As an evolution of the current logo, this new icon represents how much the organization has progressed over time to meet the needs of its members while remaining true to its foundational values.

We are excited to share our modernized branding, a symbol of the evolution of our association and of great things to come in the future.
