Dear BCLA Members and list subscribers,
I don’t think any of us, when we choose to work in libraries, expects to be in the situation that our friends and colleagues at the North Vancouver District Public Library were in this weekend. Being at the epicentre of a violent crime is socially, emotionally, and physically harrowing. To Jacqueline van Dyk, the staff at the library, library patrons, and neighbourhood merchants, please know that our thoughts are with you. We hope you find peace with each new day and the strength to continue what libraries do best – serve our communities without reservation or fear.
