The National Network for Equitable Library Service (NNELS) is staffing multiple positions to support a series of special projects funded by the Government of Canada’s Social Development Partnerships Program – Disability Component (SDPP-D).

While the BC Libraries Cooperative and NNELS are headquartered in downtown Vancouver, all the positions being staffed are virtual office opportunities.

Coordinator for Accessibility Testing

Contract position leading a team of Accessibility Testers to undertake an extensive review of accessibility of EPUB files and public library ebook reading platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to change the landscape of accessible reading in Canada.

Closing date: September 19, 2018
Start date: September 24, ending March 31, 2019

Accessibility Testers (4-8)

These limited-term employees will be responsible for evaluating library ebook reading applications as well as ebook files for accessibility following a defined set of criteria. These positions are excellent opportunities for individuals who are curious about EPUB accessibility and the challenges facing Canadian publishers that want to publish accessible ebooks.

Braille Production Coordinator

We’re looking for a contractor to be responsible for organizing the selection, purchase, and distribution of a hardcopy Braille collection through Canadian public libraries and NNELS. This position is a great opportunity to make Braille more available to Braille readers, and help recommend future policy and direction.
