Invitation to Participate: Survey on Records Professionals’ Perceptions of Professional Identity

Invitation to Participate: Survey on Records Professionals’ Perceptions of Professional Identity

July 20, 2021

Dear records professional,

We are conducting a research project that assesses records professionals’ perceptions of their professional identity.

At present, the research is limited to those who identify as a records professional in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada whose primary role is working with records.

For this study, we broadly define a records professional as someone whose job involves working with records and who also identifies as a records professional. Common titles for records professional may include, but are not limited to: records managers, information managers, knowledge managers, archivist or heritage manager, etc. Records professionals can also be called officers, consultants or analysts, not just managers.

If you are currently working as a records professional and have done so for more than six months, and work in one of the above jurisdictions, could you please assist us by completing the survey found here: https://curtin.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dcJYzY9qPwkZX81

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is anonymous. No identifying information, such as your name or email address, will be collected, unless you provide it as a means of contact for a possible follow-up interview. The survey will be available until Monday, August 30, 2021.

There will be no costs or direct payment for participating.

If you have any questions about the study or study procedures, please do not hesitate to contact Dr Leisa Gibbons (leisa.gibbons@curtin.edu.au) or Dr Donald Force (force@uwm.edu).

Finally, if you know of a RIM professional who is not part of this list, we would appreciate you forwarding it to them.

Thank you!

Kind regards,
Donald
