Public Library Leaders Program Now Accepting Applications for 2023–2024

June 13, 2023

The PLLeaders Program is accepting applications for the 6th PLLeaders cohort that will begin in September 2023 and run until January 2025.

Formerly known as the Public Library Leadership Fellows Program, the 15-month program PLLeaders Program is a partnership between the University of Toronto iSchool and the Canadian Urban Libraries Council (CULC) and is designed to engage seasoned library managers who have the desire and potential for the highest levels of leadership in public libraries. It exposes them to themes, experiences, and relationships to augment their preparedness. The Program combines frank (and confidential sessions) with senior library executives, an instructional program with key learning outcomes, individual mentorship, and group work with peer leaders from across the country.

Graduates are awarded the Certificate in Public Library Leadership by the University of Toronto.

Now Accepting Applications 2023–2024

The 6th Co-hort will begin in September 2023 and run until January 2025.

Several modifications to the program were made during the 5th Co-hort (2021–2022). The program received and admitted almost double the number of participants than the previous co-horts. Efforts were made to reduce the travelling required, as part of COVID travel issues, but also to reduce the cost to participants. The teaching components were moved primarily to online and participants were put into smaller working groups for discussions with additional support provided by previous graduates of the program. Through discussion with the 5th Co-hort – and by popular demand – a third in-person event was returned to the schedule.

PLLeaders will meet virtually on the third and fourth Wednesdays during the program and will have three in-person events: Vancouver, Montréal, and Toronto (including a graduation reception at OLA Super Conference).

More information:

The price is $2,095 which does not include travel and hotel expenses for the in-person events.

For more information about the program please contact Lita Barrie, PLL Program Co-ordinator.
