BCLA Announces Change to 2024 Conference Dates and Location
January 18, 2024
The British Columbia Library Association (BCLA) today announced a change in venue for its 2024 BC Library Conference due to labour action at the original conference site. The change also required a change to the conference dates.
Change to 2024 BC Library Conference dates & location
Due to ongoing labour action at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, we are changing the venue for the 2024 BC Library Conference. BCLA is committed to supporting union workers and will not hold an event that would require crossing picket lines. We acknowledge the issues this may cause delegates, and BCLA staff are working hard to minimize the impact for you.
The new venue for the BC Library Conference will be the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel in Vancouver, on the Territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
Due to the change in venue on such short notice:
- we have had to condense our schedule: conference will now take place all day Wednesday April 24th & Thursday 25th, 2024.
- there is no discounted conference rate for hotel rooms: information on a variety of accommodation and cost saving options is available on the accommodation section of the conference website.
We are pleased to confirm that the most important aspects of conference will remain unchanged:
- exciting and inspiring keynotes
- 2 full days of sessions
- a trade show
- many opportunities to connect with your colleagues
We are confident that the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel will provide an excellent environment for the conference, and we are working closely with them to ensure a seamless experience for all exhibitors, speakers, and attendees.
Early bird registration will open at the start of February as usual.
We appreciate your ongoing support and commitment to the BC Library Conference. We look forward to welcoming you to the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel in April for what promises to be an engaging and informative event.
