Call for Presentations: Government Information Day in Ontario

October 8, 2015

The Libraries of Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo are very pleased to announce that they will be the hosts for the 3rd “Government Information Day in Ontario (GID 2015)”, on Monday, December 7th, 2015, 9am – 4pm, Waterloo, Ontario. The free event is to occur in the Auditorium of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), located in the same building as the Balsillie School of International Affairs, 67 Erb Street West, Waterloo, Ontario, N2L 6C2.

As with the previous two Government Information Days in Ontario (University of Toronto, 2013 & University of Ottawa, 2014), GID 2015 aims to provide an opportunity for those in libraries, archives, and academic and government institutions, to share information, interests and concerns in the field of government information. Thus, the co-ordinating team, (Government Information Librarians, Agnes Zientarska-Kayko (UW) & Hélène LeBlanc (WLU)) is now seeking ideas or proposals for presentation topics and/or speakers, within any of the following broad “government information” themes:

  • preservation & access (can include either print collections or born-digital information)
  • digitization & web harvesting
  • open data & open government
  • privacy & freedom of information

* Is there something you would like to share or do you know of a fabulous speaker, who you think we should contact? *

If you have an idea for a presentation or a speaker – (or if you would like to be both!) – please contact both Agnes & Hélène at the emails, below, NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31ST, 2015.

Please include a brief summary of what you would like to present and the estimate of the amount of time you would like to speak. Depending on the response, we may ask that a speaker increase the time of their presentation, or, of course, decrease it.

More information will follow soon, on how to register for “Government Information Day in Ontario, 2015”.

We hope to see you there!
