Call for Proposals: Saskatchewan Libraries Conference 2020

Call for Proposals: Saskatchewan Libraries Conference 2020

November 24, 2019

The Saskatchewan Library Association (SLA) is a province-wide organization established to further the development of library service in Saskatchewan. The vision of SLA is to build an engaged library and information community that is an active force in Saskatchewan’s social, economic, and cultural development. SLA supports the activities of all Saskatchewan libraries, including school, public, academic, and special
libraries.

The Saskatchewan Libraries Conference 2020 will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Conference Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan on May 7 and 8.

Conference Theme – Libraries: Building the Future

The theme for the Saskatchewan Libraries Conference 2020 is Libraries: Building the Future. This theme reflects the essential role of libraries in building and promoting diversity, inclusivity, and equity and providing space for cultural and public engagement. Libraries are a proactive, future-oriented force in life-long learning, innovation, social connection, and economic well-being of our province. Submissions should reflect the theme of the Saskatchewan Libraries Conference.

We invite submissions for the following:

Research Stream: Libraries in all sectors benefit from incorporating research evidence into day to day practice. Conducting, consulting, and using research is a key part of librarianship. For the second consecutive year, SLA welcomes submissions with a research focus (for example, research studies or projects, using research in practice, making time for research, etc.) in order to feature this important practice. Research stream submissions may be in any format (long-form, short-form or poster). This stream will be highlighted in the conference program.

Long-form Sessions: 50-minute sessions to share ideas, programs, or joint research results. This format best suits panel discussions, interactive sessions including audience participation, or joint presentations from 2 or more institutions.

Short-form Sessions: 10-20-minute sessions that will be scheduled with other presentations as lightning-round talks. These are best done solo because they will be stacked in a session block with related content. Regardless of length, these sessions should be innovative, thought-provoking, and engaging.

Poster Sessions: Posters are a great way to share your ideas and research relating to specific programs and projects. There will be a set time to stand by your poster so attendees can inquire about your work.

Please use the online submission form by December 18, 2019 (Extended to January 13, 2020)

The Conference Program Committee will review all submissions. You will receive an email confirming your participation in the conference by mid-January. Program changes must be requested within the 2-week period following the confirmation of your presentation.
