Support the CHLA/MLA/ICLC Community Service Project: Promoting Health Professions for First Nations Kids
May 15, 2016
Help promote health professions for First Nations kids by supporting the community service project set-up by the organizers of Mosaic, the joint health librarianship conference hosted by the Canadian Health Libraries Association (CHLA) with the Medical Library Association (MLA) and the International Clinical Librarian Conference (ICLC) in Toronto this week.
Continuing the practice at MLA conferences to work on a project that improves the area where the meeting is being held, this year’s conference project is “Promoting Health Professions for First Nations Kids” with the goal of sending hundreds of books to children in First Nations communities in Ontario, to encourage them to dream of careers in the health professions. In partnership with Club Amick and the Southern Ontario Library Service approximately 225 titles have been identified to develop special collections that will be sent to up to 5 schools, primarily in Northern Ontario.
To participate, simply purchase one or more of the preselected books on the Amazon book list Promoting Health Professions for First Nations Kids. At checkout, select the ship to address listed for “Mosaic 2016 Children’s Book Project”.
