Pam Ryan (pictured on left) is appointed to the role of Director, Service Development and Innovation and Moe Hosseini-Ara (pictured on right) will join the organization as Director, Branch Operations & Customer Experience.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Pam and Moe to Toronto Public Library. It’s a pivotal time for us as we launch a new strategic plan and sharpen our focus on delivering exceptional 21st century library service,” said Vickery Bowles, City Librarian at Toronto Public Library. “Their respective experience in innovative and customer-centred approaches will be a tremendous asset as we embark on the next chapter in TPL’s success story.”

Pam Ryan will focus on creating transformative library services and programs with overall responsibility for major service areas ranging from children, youth, adults, older adults and newcomers to information service, literacy and learning, special collections and digitization. Before joining Toronto Public Library, Ryan was at Edmonton Public Library (EPL) where she held a number of Director positions, most recently as the Director, Collections and Technology. Prior to EPL, Ryan was the Head of the Science and Technology Library at the University of Alberta. Her appointment at Toronto Public Library is effective May 30, 2016.

Moe Hosseini-Ara will be responsible for all aspects of customer service, community outreach and operations in TPL’s 100 branches, including capital projects. He will have overall responsibility for delivering exceptional service for customers at every point of need along the customer’s journey. Hosseini-Ara returns to TPL after a number of years working as the Director, Service Excellence at Markham Public Library, and most recently as the City of Markham’s Director of Culture. Hosseini-Ara has a long history of working in public libraries. His appointment is effective June 2, 2016.

These two positions reflect a recent restructuring of the whole organization that positions TPL to deliver on a new strategic plan and digital strategies, creating structures that support staff as it continues to develop and deliver innovative, responsive 21st century public library service.
