Survey about Born-Digital Collections in Canadian Archives

Survey about Born-Digital Collections in Canadian Archives

November 18, 2020

Hello everyone,

Would you kindly consider both filling out & forwarding the following survey on born-digital capacity in Canadian archives and heritage organizations?

You may remember this research from previous years. This longitudinal survey has been conducted since 2013, and I’m now running it every second year. The survey will be open for one month, in case you need time to collect data for your responses.

Any Canadian institution that collects heritage materials is invited to participate, whether you’re a municipal archive, public library, special interest group, academic special collections, or what-have-you. I am looking for one response per organization, even if you’ve never handled a digital acquisition.

The survey is in a Google Form, which you can access and share via this link:

The survey should take about twenty minutes to work through, and partial responses are encouraged — just skip through to the end and press “Submit” when you’ve had enough. You’ll find more information on the first page of the survey, and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. There are open comment fields on each page that you can use if you’d like to discuss changes or ad-hoc processes in light of the current pandemic or other recent developments.

I would appreciate you sharing this email with relevant listservs, member directories, and interested colleagues. Thank you for your participation, and for your help in increasing awareness of my research!
