Call for Survey Participants: Young Adult Use of E-Books – An Analysis of Public Library Information and Resource Offerings

January 31, 2016

I invite you to take part in a research project called “Young Adult Use of E-Books: An Analysis of Public Library Information and Resource Offerings”.

This study is being done by Robyn Gray. I am a Master’s student in the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The project is supervised by Dr. Vivian Howard.

You can take part in this study if you are a librarian that works in a public library, in the area of youth services or young adult librarianship.

To help us understand how e-books impact the leisure reading practices of young adults in public libraries, we are asking you to complete a short survey.

There are many potential benefits to participants, as this survey could potentially promote new ideas for how to develop services for young adults involving e-readers and e-books at the participant’s own public library.

This study will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. There are 30 questions in total, including the opening and closing consent confirmations. You will not be asked to provide any identifying information, so both you and your library will be anonymous. Quotations from the survey may be used in the final report, but they will also be completely anonymous.

All information you give to myself or my supervisor will be kept private. When I share my findings in a final report, I will only talk about group results. Neither you nor your library will be identified.

I am happy to share my results with you by mid-April, 2016.

If you wish to learn about the results of this study, please contact either myself at robyn.gray@dal.ca or 403-681-2649, or my supervisor Dr. Vivian Howard at vivian.howard@dal.ca or 902-494-3031.

In addition, please contact me or Dr. Howard if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about your participation in this research project.
