The GTEC Distinction Awards recognize excellence in service delivery to Canadians, leveraging information technology and information management. Over the past 23 years, the Distinction Awards have recognized 571 public sector individuals and teams across municipal, provincial and federal jurisdictions.

Nominations submitted are judged by committees comprised of senior executives from both the public and private sectors who conduct an extensive evaluation to select the most outstanding projects to first become Honourees of the Distinction Awards and, from this elite group of Honourees, select the most distinctive projects within each category to become the Medalists of the Distinction Awards.

The 2016 Distinction Awards were presented at the Distinction Awards Ceremony and Gala on November 1, 2016 at the Shaw Convention Centre in Ottawa as part of the annual GTEC Conference and Exhibition.
