CanUX 2016 News: More Speakers & Workshops Confirmed

News and updates from the organizers of CanUX 2016, Canada’s premier annual UX event.

Regular priced tickets will sell out soon

If you missed our twitter updates, the early bird tickets sold in record time this year, and over 75% of our regular priced tickets are already gone. Get yours before tickets prices jump up once again, either on our CanUX tickets page or directly from Eventbrite.

Speaker lineup update

Our first announced keynote speaker, interaction design legend Alan Cooper, founder of Cooper (San Francisco, CA), inventor of design personas, “father of Visual Basic” and author of “About Face” and “The Inmates are Running the Asylum” will be joined by our second keynote speaker, Shelley Evenson, Executive Director at Fjord (New York, NY) and co-founder of the International Service Design Network. We’re also thrilled to announce that this year’s lineup also include Stephen Anderson, Chief Experience Officer at BloomBoard (Dallas, TX), author of “Seductive Interaction Design”, and creator of the popular Mental Notes card deck.

They join the previously announced IA pioneer Peter Morville, president of Semantic Studios (Ann Arbor, MI), co-author of the “polar bear book”, “Search Patterns”, “Ambient Findability” and “Intertwingled”, renowned user researcher Meena Kothandaraman, co-founder of twig+fish (Boston, MA) and professor at Bentley University’s HFID program. as well as Rachel Daniel and Amanda Stockwell (Raleigh, North Carolina), VP of UX at Maxpoint and Director of UX at 352 Inc. respectively.

The first ever CanUX Workshop announced for Friday, Nov 11

Over the past few years, many of you have asked about the possibility of attending hands-on workshops during CanUX weekend. This year we’re finally able to bring affordable, high-quality half-day workshops to our event. The first announced workshop will be led by Boon Yew Chew, Design Manager at Sapient Nitro (London, UK), and is titled Visual Design Thinking for Service Design. Tickets for the workshop are not included in the main conference pass, but can be purchased separately for $199 CAD.

The CanUX Job Fair is back on Sunday, Nov 13

Due to the success of last year’s inaugural CanUX Job Fair, we’re bringing it back on 2016. If you are looking for a job in experience design, interaction design, information architecture, usability or just design in general, a number of top employers from the region will be on site following our closing keynote on Sunday, November 8, to showcase their open positions and potentially schedule follow-up interviews. More details about the job fair will be made available on our site in the coming days.
