Invitation to Join Indigenous Collections Management Listserv
March 5, 2023
We are pleased to announce this new listserv and invite participation.
Focus of the listserv: The intention of this pan-Canadian list is to provide a venue to bring individuals together to address and discuss topics relating to Indigenous collections acquisitions, policy making, and best practices. The listserv is managed by the Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries (COPPUL).
Eligibility: Open to any library worker in Canada with responsibilities or interest in Indigenous collections work. Please feel free to distribute this invitation widely within the Canadian Library community.
Joining information: If you are interested in joining this conversation please share your email address name via this form.
Background: This initiative comes as a result of joint discussions between two COPPUL groups the Indigenous Knowledge Standing Committee and the Collections Community. Outcomes of those discussions identified that such a listserv would provide a venue for sharing information and increasing support for individuals with responsibilities to build and maintain Indigenous collections. Participation from any employee with such responsibilities from across Canada is welcomed. Please note that this group does not have a mandate to discuss Decolonizing Description issues.
