Kathleen DeLong Appointed Interim Chair of uAlberta SLIS

The University of Alberta announced the appointment of Dr. Kathleen Delong as Interim Director of the School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) for a year beginning on July 1, 2020. During the half-time secondment, Dr. DeLong will divide her time between the School and her existing role in Library and Museums as Executive Director and Deputy Chief Librarian. She will succeed Dr. Toni Samek who has served as SLIS Chair for the past five years.

Dr. Kathleen De Long has a Masters in Public Management from the University of Alberta and a doctorate in Managerial Leadership in the Information Professions from Simmons College in Boston, as well as an MLIS from the University of Alberta. Her work with the University of Alberta Libraries includes all aspects of human resources management as well as other administrative duties. Kathleen also teaches, on a sessional basis, for the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alberta.
