Library and Archives Canada (LAC) invites you to the Canadian National Heritage Digitization Strategy Foundational Assembly, which will be held on October 14, 2016 in the National Capital Region.
As you may be aware, LAC launched the Strategy on June 3, 2016. The strategy aims to provide a cohesive approach to the digitization efforts of Canadian memory institutions and, once implemented, will open up new opportunities for consulting, distributing and promoting our documentary heritage. For more information on the strategy, please visit http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/about-us/Pages/national-heritage-digitization-strategy.aspx.
This day-long assembly will take place at 395 Wellington St., in Ottawa and will bring together a range of partners and stakeholders to discuss collaborative digital strategies and to select a National Steering Committee. The morning keynote speaker will be Dr. Hildelies Balk-Pennington de Jongh from the National Library of the Netherlands (Koninklijke Bibliotheek). She will discuss documentary heritage digitization strategies of the National Library of the Netherlands.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Space is limited so please RSVP by email to Irene van Bavel at irene.vanbavel@canada.ca by September 23, 2016. Please also take a moment to advise us of any dietary restrictions.
We look forward to seeing you there!
