The executive director of the Canadian Federation of Library Associations (CFLA) has provided an overview of activities since September 2017.

The executive director of the Canadian Federation of Library Associations (CFLA) has provided an overview of activities since the beginning of August 2017.

Earlier this week, CARL and CFLA released their submissions to the Consultation on Options for Reform of the Copyright Board of Canada.

Committee will advise the CFLA Board to develop and promote the library community’s positions on cataloguing and metadata standards and issues.

Calls on federal government to invest in library infrastructure, digitization of documentary heritage, Library Materials Service, and a new National Indigenous Association of Archives, Libraries and Cultural Memory.

McColgan, currently Manager of Administration and Programs at CARL, succeeds Kevin Brennan who has served as CFLA’s Senior Project Executive since June 2016.

The report makes ten recommendations to enhance experiences and opportunities for Indigenous peoples and researchers in Canada by decolonizing libraries and archives and their practices

To date, library staff in four provinces (BC, AB, ON, QC) have reported more than 30 challenges, to censor collections and resources, and access to services.
