Surveys for EDI Strategies in Recruitment in Libraries
June 8, 2022
Hello library community,
I am leading a project, sponsored by BCLA, to develop a toolkit to help libraries diversify our sector through strategies in recruitment — with a focus on achieving a more racially equitable workforce. Libraries become stronger, more effective and relevant when people with diverse lived experiences, talents, and abilities make up our teams.
To create this toolkit, we want to hear from you. There are two surveys open for your participation:
Survey A: Experience of IBPOC Candidates in Libraries
If you identify as Indigenous, Black, or a person of colour (IBPOC) and you have applied for jobs (including promotions) in libraries, please consider sharing your job search experience in this questionnaire. It takes 5-10 minutes. We want to learn about the challenges, barriers, current realities and experiences of IBPOC candidates in libraries.Survey B: Experience of Supervisors and Managers Hiring in Libraries
The survey is for any supervisor, manager or hiring personnel in libraries. It takes 10-15 minutes. The information you share will be used to build best practices and strategies in recruiting a diverse workforce in libraries through case studies and experiences of our colleagues and organizations. Help make our sector stronger by sharing from your experience in hiring. The information you provide in the surveys is confidential and anonymous. To learn more about the project, you can read about it on the BCLA website.
Surveys are open until July 1, 2022.
Please share this with your networks.
If you have questions, you can reach out to me at me@jessicawhu.com.
Thank you,
Jessica
